This module builds on foundational bookkeeping and reconciliation skills by teaching team members how to manage end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes using Xero.
- Teacher: Janice Vento

Bank reconciliation in Xero is one of the most important daily/weekly tasks for Virtual Assistants and bookkeepers. It ensures that the bank account records in Xero match the actual bank statements. This process helps detect errors, missing entries, or fraudulent transactions, while also maintaining compliance with ATO requirements.
- Teacher: Janice Vento

This topic introduces trainees to the Xero platform interface and the essential tools they will use on a daily basis as Virtual Assistants providing bookkeeping support. The goal is to build confidence in navigating the system, understanding how data flows through Xero (via bank feeds, contacts, invoices, and bills), and preparing them for more complex reconciliation and reporting tasks. A solid grasp of navigation ensures efficiency, reduces errors, and builds a strong foundation for all subsequent bookkeeping activities.

Light Bookkeeping Support involves maintaining accurate, up-to-date financial records through basic transaction processing, reconciliation, and reporting — without performing full accounting or tax agent duties.
This course equips new team members with the skills to accurately record, categorise, and reconcile expenses while providing light bookkeeping support in an Australian business environment.
By the end of the course, participants will understand ATO-compliant record-keeping practices, be able to process transactions accurately, and provide organised financial information to supervisors, accountants, or BAS Agents.
